Chapter 15: Falling Down

Hello again 🙂 Last we left off for the heirpoll and the results are in…

Nicolette Autumn is the winner 🙂

Scott and Trudy’s wedding was a bit different than usual in terms of dressing. The bride wore jeans! Yet, it was a beautiful wedding none the less and everyone had fun. It was so that Scott decided to move in with Trudy and leave his home to start life in a new house.

Before the wedding however, Scott and Nicolette had a little goodbye conversation.
“Now remember to take care of the garden so that the plants don’t die!” Scott reminded his little sister.
“I’ll try my best. I don’t know why they chose me as heiress instead of you or Ellen! You’re both so awesome!” Nicolette said, “I’m not even sure I’ll be a good heiress! I mean…I don’t even have significant someone yet!”
“Hush Nic!” Scott said putting a finger to his lips, “You’re going to be a great heiress.”
“But…!” Nicolette started.
“No buts, that is my final answer.”

During the wedding party, Ellen surprised everyone by getting down on one knee and proposing to Leonardo. He said yes and that made the event even more special.

Nicolette did try her hardest to keep Scott’s plants alive but she was no great gardener like her brother. However, her lack of knowledge about plants was greatly balanced out by her determination to succeed. She would wake up early in the morning and spend hours tending the plants. One day she would try a method and the next an entirely different one.
“Some day I’ll learn.” she would mutter to herself.

It wasn’t long after that Ellen and Leonardo had a gorgeous private wedding in front of Ellen’s soon-to-be old home.
Though Nicolette was happy, she was downspirited. Both of her siblings had seemingly found their paths in life and she was as yet just a hanging. She had no partner and she was nowhere near achieving her lifetime wish.

“Hey Tim!” Nicolette had been doing some shopping and was about to head into the library when she met her old friend. From then on it was easy flowing conversation.

“You really mean a lot to me Tim. I don’t ever want to loose you!” Nicolette exclaimed as she threw her arms around her friend to give him a hug. She was surprised when he swooped her off her feet and into his arms. She hugged him tighter and tried to hide her elated grin but failed.

When Tim put her back down on her feet, he didn’t release her.
“Nicolette Autumn. When are you going to realise that I don’t like you.” he told her sternly.
Nicolette stopped smiling and felt her happy bubble burst.
Then Tim said, “I don’t like you, but… I do love you with all my heart.”
“Wow!” air wooshed into Nicolette’s lungs again as she realised what Tim was saying.

And then he was kissing her and she was kissing him back and then he asked her to marry him and she said yes. 🙂

Nicolette looked gorgeous in her wedding dress.

Maggie couldn’t help but tell her daughter how gorgeous she looked. Nicolette was also the child who resembled her most. The only difference between Maggie and Nicolette is that Maggie has blue eyes whereas Nicolette has hazel eyes.

When night was approaching, guests started to arrive. Some of the guests, came bearing interesting news. Ellen was happy to announce that she had just become the proud mother of baby boy Cletus.

Finally, it was time for the wedding. So it was that Tim Lyons who happens to be Trudy’s younger brother, became the new Mr. Autumn and Nicolette was on the right track for being a great heiress.

The couple celebrated their first night together in the newly decorated bedroom.

With a little bit of a hair cut and a change of wardrobe, Tim became quite the irresistible guy.

Chuck went to visit his daughter Ellen and he got to meet his grandson during the visit.

“Hey sister! How’s life with Scott?” Tim asked his older sister.
“Everything’s going by blissfully. You and Nicolette?” Trudy asked him.
“I’m going to be a father soon! Nicolette just told me last night!”
“That’s wonderful news! Now don’t you go ahead and ruin it! You’ve found a girl who loves you and you should remember that!”
“Oh dear Trudy, always the sister that looks out for me!”
“Well I can’t help it! You may be married and all grown up but to me you are still my little brother!”

“Hey Nic! I was wondering, would you prefer a baby boy or a girl?” Tim asked his wife.
“Girl. I would still be happy with a baby boy though.” Nicolette answered.
“I would very much love to have a daughter too. I guess we’ll have to wait and see whether we get our wishes.”

Tim was very supportive and helped his wife have an easier pregnancy by giving her frequent massages and smooches.

Meet baby boy Charlie Autumn who has a blend of his parent’s skintones. The random traits for Charlie were Easily Impressed and Neurotic. He loves blue, cookies and kid’s music.

It wasn’t long after Charlie’s birth that Nicolette and Tim decided to have another child. They were both still hoping for a little daughter.

Soon it was Charlie’s first birthday and just a few hours earlier, Nicolette had discovered that she was pregnant again.

Charlie grew up into a cute little toddler though we’ll know whether he is truly good looking or not only when he grows older. He inherited his father’s violet eyes and hair from his great-grandfather Arthur.

Throughout her pregnancy, Nicolette spent a lot of her time on her easel. She also dedicated time to her son and husband but she was getting worried that something was preoccupying Tim. Whenever she asked him if everything was ok, he would just shrug it off and say that he was fine. Yet, something told her that Tim wasn’t really okay. To, top it off he didn’t even seem excited for the birth of his soon-to-be second child.

One morning, Nicolette cornered Tim just before he left for his part-time job at the supermarket.
“What is the problem Tim? Am I doing something wrong?” she asked him.
“For the hundreth time Nicolette, I’m fine!” Tim almost growled.
“So you say, but I know that it isn’t so!” Nicolette snapped, “I’m your wife, Tim! You should tell me if something is making you this way.”
“Alright…I hate depending on your family’s fortune.” Tim said.
“But you do work! You have a…”
“part-time job at the supermarket which your father owns.” Tim finished, “I’m a useless husband with no job.”
“Don’t you ever let that get you down Tim! Try going to job interviews in careers that interest you if you feel that way.” Nicolette encouraged her husband.
“You don’t think that that’s what I’ve been trying to do!” Tim said frustrated.
“Well, don’t ever give up!”
“Easy for you to say! Miss I have a very wealthy heirloom and can spend my whole day just doing what I love, painting!”
“Take that back Tim!” Nicolette said horrified.
“You know what? I won’t!” he said and he stormed out of the house leaving Nicolette bewildered because this had been her first real argument with her husband.

“Oh Charlie!” Nicolette told her young son one day, “I wish I could help your father and maybe get him back to the way he was. He loves you, you know! Even though he doesn’t really spend a lot of time with you.”

A few days later, Nicolette gave birth to baby girl Lucy Autumn. Lucy appears to have her mother’s skintone. Her randomized traits are Brave and Friendly. Her favourites are custom music, goopy carbonara and green.
Nicolette was really happy with her new daughter but sad at the same time that Tim hadn’t come to the hospital to help her with the birth. It wasn’t his working shift so she wondered where he could have gone.

“I have very great news Nic! I think I may have well landed the job in my last interview. I could tell that the interviewer was very impressed.”
“That’s great Tim! See what I told you?”
“Hmm…know what could make me even happier??” Tim said suggestively.
Nicolette smiled, at last, her old Tim was back!

But she had been wrong, the next morning she was greated with the same new cold Tim she had thought was gone.
“What’s wrong Tim?” she asked fearning the worst.
“I didn’t get the job.” Tim scowled.
“It’s alright, you can try for another one!” Nicolette said trying to keep on the positive side of things.
“No I won’t. I know that nobody wants me by now.” Tim said, “And you shouldn’t be giving me advice on this, after all you’ve never worked a single day of your life!”

Nicolette hated speaking about her martial problems with her parents because she didn’t want to burden them. Instead she vented out her feelings with the maid, Michael Adam. He was an attentive listener unlike her husband and he did offer her solutions to some problems. She was glad that she had a friend close by whom she could share her problems with.

Tim would often get back home at late hours. He was cautious to tiptoe silently through the house and make the least noise possible but Nicolette still found out that he was coming back home later than he was supposed to after his shift. One night she even smelled a strong scent of vanilla when Tim got into the bed.

Luckily, there was always Maggie to make up for Tim’s lack of interest in his children. She helped her daughter out frequently whenever she could. Maggie was very worried, she could feel that Tim wasn’t being a good husband but she didn’t want to interject in her daughter’s personal affairs. To top it off, she was also worried about Chuck. Lately he had taken to lock himself up in his room, either writing or sleeping. He had recently also retired because he said he didn’t feel he was able to work productively anymore.

Nicolette loved little Charlie. He was such a cute little boy and she enjoyed spending time with him. She ment to confront Tim about what he was doing with all that time he spent away from home and she also wanted to know why he didn’t even interest himself in his kids but she just didn’t have the time. Her days consisted of waking up early to take care of the garden, then attending to her children. After which she would try to continue on with her painting but before long she would be interrupted by her little ones again. By the time that Tim showed up at home, she would be exhausted and most of the time fast asleep.

It wasn’t long after that Nicolette threw a birthday party for Lucy. All the family was invited and Tim for once was also present during the festives.

Lucy grew up into an amazing toddler. She has inherited her father’s violet eyes and her grandmother’s (Tim’s mother) brown-orange hair. 🙂

Nicolette saw Tim leave the party early and upon impulse she told Maggie to take care of the little ones and she followed him. What she discovered shocked her to the bones…

“Tim!” she cried shocked. She couldn’t believe her eyes, she could even believe that he had done this to her.
“I thought you loved me! You liar!”

“All this whole time! You were lying to me! It is over between us!” Nicolette said enraged.
“No Nic! Wait, let me explain…” Tim started feebly.
“Explain what exactly Tim!?” Nicolette cut across him, “I saw you with my own eyes. You know what question I would like you to answer? Why…why did you even bother to marry me?”
“I tried to change…I tried to be who I am not. I tried to please my sister Trudy by settling down with one girl, but that I’m afraid I haven’t been able to do. Marriage suffocates me! I thought I could withstand it but I can’t Nic!” Tim said.
“Well, you don’t have to let it suffocate you anymore because you’re going to leave from my house the moment you finish packing your bags.” Nicolette screamed.

And sure enough, when they returned back home, Nicolette didn’t stop yelling at Tim until he finally packed his bags and left the Autumn household for good.

Chuck had been out on an errand for Maggie when the yelling match had happened and so when he arrived he didn’t at first notice that anything was amiss.
“Nicolette!” he told his daughter excitedly, “Am I going to become the grandpa of yet another little one soon?” he said giving her a little pat on the tummy.
“What?” Nicolette wondered bewildered but sure enough her dad was right.
“No!” she cried, “I hate you Tim!” she continued even though the latter couldn’t hear her because he was already miles away.
“Nic?” by now Chuck realised that something was wrong with his daughter.
“Tim and I are no longer married dad.” she spat, “Apparently I wasn’t good enough to satisfy him! He was going out with another woman behind my back!”
Chuck just didn’t know what to reply to that. He had never in the world thought of going behind Maggie’s back and he was sure that Maggie had stayed loyal to him throughout all of their marriage so he had no experience to share with his daughter.
Nicolette looked at her father sadly and then stormed off to the room she used to share with Tim.

Then to make matters worse, Chuck died that night at the age of 90. Maggie was devastated.

And so was Nicolette. She cried and cried and held herself guilty for her father’s death.
“I shouldn’t have told him that Tim and I have broken up.” she cried.
Maggie heard her and affirmed that the shouting that she had heard earlier was true, “Darling, you think that he wouldn’t have noticed Tim missing?”
“Well…Tim was hardly ever home so maybe he wouldn’t have.” Nicolette said crying.
“Nicolette, your father’s gone, that’s true but it definately isn’t because of you!” Maggie said to her daughter.
“I miss him already.” Nicolette cried.
“Me too. Me too Nicky.” Maggie said wiping away tears, “Tomorrow we’ll go lay him next to your ancestors.”

It was a very mournful day for the Autumns the next day. Luckily though, Charlie and Lucy were both still too young to understand what was really happening so at least, Nicolette only had to deal with her own grief, broken heart and uncertainty about the future. Nicolette was scared, with her father gone she was left with negative thoughts about when her mother would die. She wondered how she would cope with two kids and one along the way.
“Please mum…stay with me for a long time.” she prayed. She didn’t only want her mother there just to help her, but she had just lost two loved ones and if Maggie died anytime soon she wondered whether she would be able to go on with her life.

To lift her daughter’s spirits up, Maggie gave Nicolette a voucher for a day at the spa.

However, Nicolette’s day at the spa was cut short when she went into labour and had to be taken quickly to the hospital. So it was that baby girl Jenny Autumn was born. Jenny likes Latin Music, pancakes and the colour yellow. Her randomized traits are friendly and virtuoso. So, far she looks just like her mother but then again…all babies look the same in TS3.

Nicolette was very lucky to have a close friendship with Michael (the maid) because he was a wonder in making her feel better and he was the only one that could make her crack a smile. Sometimes he even dropped by to help out with the kids so that Nicolette could have some very much needed sleep.

With the help of all family members, Nicolette was able to throw a small party for Charlie and Jenny’s birthdays.

Charlie grew up into a good looking young boy. The new trait he got was Heavy Sleeper.

Jenny reminded everyone of Chuck when she grew up because she inherited both her grandfather’s eyes and hair colour.

It was the morning after the birthday party that Michael admitted to Nicolette that he liked her as more than just a friend. Nicolette was a bit afraid to pursue a relationship with him at first but Michael assured her that he would never leave her or betray her for another woman.

Jenny still dedicated most of her time to her children but at least now she also had the help of Michael. This meant that Maggie could at least have a bit of rest in her elder years.

When Lucy’s birthday arrived, Nicolette was a bit grim because she had just discovered that she was pregnant again. This time it was Michael’s baby but she was afraid of how he would take it. After all, they weren’t even married. Maggie on the other hand was now 92 years old and wanting to spend as much time as she could with her grandchildren, so she was the one that helped Lucy celebrate her birthday.

Lucy grew up into a wonderful girl and she got the trait never-nude.

Shortly after, Maggie died. What is up with the Autumns and their deaths at parties?? Anyways, Maggie died at the age of 92 which isn’t much but which is a bit longer than her husband lived. She died with a smile on her face, knowing that her daughter had at least found another man to love her.

In fact, Maggie died just when Nicolette was announcing her pregnancy to Michael. He was delighted by the news and asked her to marry him but their joy was cut short when Maggie died.

The whole family, minus Jenny went to the Autumn Garden to place Maggie next to her husband. So, the heirship is now solely Nicolette’s. Both Charlie and Lucy were heartbroken to see their grandma dead. Nicolette on the other hand was really sad that Maggie never got to meet her youngest grandkid who was bound to arrive sometime soon.

Sure enough, a few days later, Nicolette went into labour. This time round she decided to have the baby at home.

So it was that baby boy Logan Autumn was born. His randomized traits were heavy sleeper and brave. His favourites are custom music, spaghetti and green. This time round, I didn’t just choose a name, Logan was named after the actor Logan Lerman who is 18 years old and who is really handsome. Logan recently played the part of Percy Jackson and I must say that I’m very pleased with the way he acted out Percy. Let us hope that Logan Autumn will indeed grow up to be as handsome as the person he was named after.

Lucy is the first out of the Autumn children this generation to come up with a Life time wish. Lucy wants to become a World Renowned Surgeon. Cheers for Lucy for being original 🙂

Michael immediately showed the attributes of a great father. He loved all of Nicolette’s children but he had to admit that there was something special about Logan being his son.

Nicolette and Michael had a private wedding at a little beach. The only two guests watching them were Charlie and Lucy.

It was soon time for a triple birthday at the Autumn household. First up was Charlie.

Charlie is the spitting image of his father. I never had two sims so much alike before! Charlie’s fourth trait is party animal and he still hasn’t decided on an LTW.

Then it was Jenny’s turn…

The trait she got was hot headed.

Finally, it was Logan’s turn…

Logan really surprised me with his genetics. He got a darker version of his mother’s eyes and black hair. The black hair I don’t know from where he could have gotten it since no one in the whole history of the Autumns had black hair and Michael has no ancestors, so, black hair = mystery to me. He is still cute though 🙂

This is where I leave you for this chapter 🙂 I hope you enjoyed reading it 😀
